Valley Stream Central High School Reviews

Excellent teachers, great parent involvement. College-like campus. Impressive domed clock tower, 'real' auditorium.

Valley Stream is a great neighborhood to raise children and Central was a school that enabled me to reach my goals. I am now a grad student at Harvard and I have to say that Central propelled me to reach there. Students there were not afraid to say they studied and everyone worked hard.

As a student at Valley Stream Central High School, I'd have to say it has grown on me. Although there might be various behavioral problems within the school, it is overall an acceptable learning institution. The teachers are nice, understanding and completely willing to help students that need it whether is extrahelp sessions or reviewing hard topics in class. We have many opportunities to increase our grades and work towards our full potentional. There are many after school clubs and sports that there is at least one suitable for each student.

It is a pretty good school. There on always security guards on duty. The school offers a variety of subject levels and elective classes. Most of the teachers are fun and make the classes as interesing as possible. The school offers a lot of extracurricular activities as well, which are fun and free to anyone to participate in as long as they are eligible.

My daughter attended this school for three years and has done well. Parent particiapation is not as great as it used to be. The teachers all expect the highest lvel of acheivement from all students and that is what is most important to me as a parnet.

Central High School is lead by Joseph Pompilio. Mr. Pompilio is a phenomenal leader who is often seen talking to and listening to the students on a daily basis. This as clearly noted from first hand observation allows the students a comfort level which is an accomplishment in itself (especially with teenagers). The students respect him and often confide in him. As a direct result of his leadership and with the assistance of some equally fabulous educators/administrator Central High School is a safe learning environment where the students receive constant guidance, support and a high quality education. The students, though they may not readily admit it (just wouldn't be cool) enjoy their years at Central High School. The majority of which go on to pursue a post secondary education.

When I first entered Central, I went there kicking and screaming. But, I can honestly say that the people there changed my life. Thank you Weinberg. - Your Favorite Problem Child
